Through Their Lenses - Jonathan South

— On a quest to perfect his craft

Sunday, January 14, 2018

Twenty-one-year-old Jonathan South from St Catherine tells SO that his “liking for the visual art form began in 2012”. Four years later his passion for photography was sparked. He describes the last 12 months as “the true milestone for his photographic journey”. “I have,” continues South, “worked with some of the most recognised names and faces in the industry through my portraiture”. Think: performing artiste Sevana Siren, beauty queens like Kaci Fennell-Shirley, Ashlie Barrett and Yendi Phillipps. He has also shot with some of Jamaica's largest companies like Lasco, Caribbean Broilers and Supreme Ventures. He describes his style as clean and vibrant with warm tones and punchy colours accompanied by a moody contrast to create a quite stunning and emotional image.

South is pursuing studies in Computer Science at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
